A new-age office, with pauses in green terraces promoting meaningful interactions
The proposed development for Amtron, the BPO Tower in the Tech City of Bongora, Assam, is a new-age workplace located near the Guwahati Airport. The project evokes the imagery of its geographic context and responds to the challenges through well-framed design strategies. On the facade, a stepped void creates landscaped terraces that split the building into two, held together again with a floating plane hovering above. With formal offices on the upper floors and shared offices below, the landscaped areas at the centre are designed to be leased separately for events or performances.
Mutual shading sun tracking louvres on the southwest minimise dependence on air conditioning, while solar panelled roofs and drip irrigation techniques notch up the status quo in terms of services. A pedestrian-friendly campus emerges from movement conflict in the design and reduces traffic congestion as employees walk through a landscaped plaza from the drop-off points. Echoing the ethos of ‘people-first design’ at DFI, the Amtron is an experience that promotes meaningful interactions.
