Goonmeet Singh Chauhan
Goonmeet Singh Chauhan is an architect, urbanist, author and a futurist with boundless enthusiasm to push the frontiers of possibility and bring forth ‘Newness’ that is both ‘Delightful’ and ‘Useful’ into all that he does. As the Founding partner at DFI, he believes in an architecture that is unshackled by ‘isms’. With a focus on creating design with a purpose, he is passionate about transforming the lives of people and truly believes that our shared destiny can be altered through pragmatic ideation and collective action fairly rapidly. In his recently published book ‘Invertonomics’, he has proposed a ‘Dream for India’, a dream steeped in Idealism, borne of Inclusivity, and tempered with Pragmatism.
A firm believer in the “People First” approach to design, Goonmeet channels his creativity into providing innovative solutions for the ‘Reformation of City Architecture’. Through his designs, he aims to address some chronic problems of our cities like walkability, air pollution, noise pollution, waste management, education and safer cities. His contribution to the once in a lifetime opportunity of being a part of “Nation Building” includes projects like Vanijya Bhawan (New Delhi), Ministry of Commerce for the Government of India, NIT Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Delhi High Court, Kaushal Bhawan (New Delhi), Amritsar Railway Station, Multi-Modal Logistics and Transport Hub (Dadri), and the Delhi Cycle Walk.
Goonmeet and his other co-founders at DFI have been named amongst India’s ‘Top 30 Architects’ by Forbes India. He has won many accolades for his works including, the Outstanding Papers and Design Works at UIA Seoul Congress and the IndeXcellence Awards. He is also a frequent contributor to magazines and newspapers such as Architecture + Design, the Indian Express, Times Property, and the Economic Times, where he shares his insights on various urban issues close to his heart.
