GYGY 5o, Sector 50, Noida, UP
Retail & Mixed Use
An interface that connects the community to the high street experience
Located in the heart of a densely populated residential sector of Noida, the GYGY-50 project transforms a 3,000 sq.m triangular plot into a vibrant high-street shopping and dining destination. The project reimagines the retail and culinary experiences with its open-to-the-street spatial design to craft a focal point for people looking to experience the emerging shopping culture. The intent was to mold a massive space for the community that feels familiar in scale with its in-between spaces and create an interface that connects the users to the built space, even without being physically indoors.
The lower ground, ground, and first floor levels are dedicated to retail space and strategically designed with a ‘people first’ approach to attract consumers and collaborators with the tool of transparency. Vividly lit interiors make it easy to see merchandise from the sidewalk, attracting passersby and increasing foot traffic. Unlike traditional retail complexes, the building’s façade is more than a mere architectural elevation—it integrates passive sustainability through interspersed green and void spaces that welcome natural energy.
Inspired by the charm of street-side eateries, lively cabanas are designed to be part of the façade, giving diners an elevated yet connected experience. The terraces bring the energy of the interior dining spaces outdoors, making the activity within a spectacle for the public while ensuring a comfortable and exclusive experience for diners.
Originally approved to be a neighborhood shopping center by local authorities, the design breaks free from the conventional idea of a neighborhood center by integrating voids and social pockets that effortlessly connect to the street, transforming it into a sophisticated high street destination. The interplay of transparency, accessibility, and experiential terraces creates a dynamic urban hub, redefining the nature of the city as a stage for new forms of retail and culinary engagement.
