Solar Tower

Retail & Mixed Use

A sustainable urban marvel, the Solar Tower blends innovative design with dynamic features, creating a vibrant commercial destination.

The Solar Tower stands as the centrepiece of an extensive mixed-use commercial project, encompassing large-format retail spaces, shopping malls, offices, and hotels. DFI has ingeniously designed the external envelope of the Solar Tower as a solar skin, angling itself to receive maximum sunlight and optimizing it for sustainable urban living.

A sundial plaza surrounds the tower, with the semi-circle of retail spaces configured in a three-storied structure featuring a concave sundial-shaped solar roof. This structure has a stepped profile, with terraces at each level offering new alfresco dining experiences that overlook the plaza and the Solar Tower.

To mitigate the heat island effect, the entire tower is elevated atop an eight-story parking lot accommodating 2,000 cars. This parking structure has been creatively fashioned into a 25-meter-high waterfall, which generates a cool mist around the base of the tower. This not only minimizes the heat island effect but also serves as a visually stunning and sensually soothing feature for the entire commercial district.

The top of the tower features a hexagonal puncture that allows light to pass through, creating an oval shadow that moves radially across the surrounding plaza, functioning as a modern-day sundial. Every hour, when the hexagon casts its outline on the hour sign, the giant waterfall breaks into a musical performance, accompanied by live bands playing in the solar plaza, creating an enthralling spectacle for both users and visitors.

The Solar Tower has been meticulously planned to transform this commercial district into a destination centre, with the Solar Tower as its principal protagonist.
