Amalgamation of Indian and Scottish Architecture
The Highland Park project located in Gurgaon, which has a design brief to respond to the site. Since the present skyline of the area is very monotonous with high rise towers all around amidst the greenery in villages, To achieve some rhythm in the skyline, it was decided to design the top of the buildings in a picturesque manner that will gel with the environment.
The project is designed as an amalgam of Indian and Scottish architecture.
5m high sloping parapets quite similar to mansard roof along with classical columns, arches at the roof level will emerge as a very strong element in the overall skyline yet very soothing and in harmony with the nature and it will be a point of culmination from a distance where all eyes would meet up to.
Similar to the top mass, ground level also required attention. For the persons walking around, there must be some interest in the design at the lower level. So 3 floors high columns with jalis, cornices culminating at at thick slab were designed at the ground level. This way the entrance to the towers becomes very dramatic and pleasant. The shadow of the projected elements falling on the wall will project different scenes throughout the day.
The project has the potential to change the way a developer approaches group housing project.
