West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, inaugurated the Dakshineswar Skywalk designed by DFI on November 5, 2018. The skywalk, executed by Adhunik Infrastructure, is 340-meter-long and 10.5-meter-wide. It connects the Dakshineswar Railway Station to the main gate of the famous Dakshineswar Kali temple. The skywalk focuses on the primary concerns which are segregation of traffic and pedestrian movement. Further segregation of traffic into motorized and non-motorized, ensuring livelihood of the shopkeepers. About 200 shops have been built on the skywalk. Keeping in mind the masses, shops have been made on one side of the corridor. There are 14 ecalators, four elevators and eight stairs for the fluctuation of the Dakshineswar Skyway.
